In the summer of 2021, Arttu Silvast started working with the Finnish media house A-Lehdet to produce original music for a monologue podcast series called ‘Pekka Saurin Lohdullinen teoria elämästä’.

Pekka Sauri is a well-known public figure in Finland, a politician and a psychologist who hosted a legendary radio show called ‘Yölinjalla’ (‘On the nightline’) from 1987 to 2002. ‘Yölinjalla’ was about comfort and solving callers' problems during the night on the radio.

The new podcast was Pekka’s return to the ‘nightline’ only this time he covers monumental themes like old age, childhood and mercy.

A-Lehdet wanted to make Pekka’s return sound special. Later on, the music of the podcast turned into a solo EP release.

Once Arttu started working on the release, the music took a few leaps from the original soundtrack becoming more of an independent piece. The original soundtrack got more emotional textures and new musical structures.

All in all, it’s a very satisfying piece of work! There is plenty of variety between the songs and the quality of the musicianship is unquestionable.

Sparkles come out of nowhere in the beginning. Maybe they’re stars, maybe they’re something incomprehensible. A supernova of a piece that twists and twirls as time endlessly moves on, this track is infectious. Overall, Silvast’s song is a wonderful piece, and would make a great addition to a movie soundtrack, or even a game.
